Dr. Neil Gailmard Dr. Neil Gailmard, a Munster, Indiana native, opened Gailmard Eye Center after receiving his O.D.
degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1976. Dr. Gailmard now has a very limited clinical practice as he works full time as a management consultant, lecturer and author in optometry. To
further expand his consulting career, he earned an M.B.A. degree, with distinction, from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago in 1998. Dr. Gailmard served on the faculty at Illinois
College of Optometry and Illinois Eye Institute for 21 years, teaching lecture courses and serving on the clinical staff of the Cornea / Contact Lens Service. Still active as a visiting lecturer at the
college, Dr. Gailmard was awarded the ICO Presidential Medal of Honor in 1999. He is also a Benedict Professor of Practice Management at University of Houston, College of Optometry. Dr.
Gailmard currently serves on the Professional Advisory Board for Johnson & Johnson / Vistakon and he is a Contributing Editor for Review of Optometry and Optometric Management
magazines. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, currently serving as Program Chairman of AOA Practice Management University, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Susan Gailmard Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, Dr. Susan Gailmard joined husband Neil in practice after
receiving her O.D. degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1980. Gailmard Eye Center grew quickly after that, and she was instrumental in the design of the present office building in 1985, and
a new addition in 1991. The building won the Town of Munster beautification award in 1986. Dr. Gailmard has been a leading practitioner, specializing in pediatric optometry and contact lenses,
for 20 years -- she was voted best optometrist in the region by readers of The Times newspaper. She is board certified in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease and she has attended
numerous postgraduate courses in laser vision correction. Many patients still remember Dr. Susan when she played the role of an optometrist in a national television commercial for McDonalds
Restaurants in the mid 1980s. Dr. Gailmard serves on the Munster Foundation Executive Committee and she is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Katharine Moles A native of Schererville, Indiana, Dr. Katharine Moles received her B.S. and O.D. degrees from
Indiana University in Bloomington. She completed a hospital-based residency in Primary care optometry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville, Illinois in 1994 and joined
Gailmard Eye & Laser Center that year. As a student, Dr. Moles completed clinical rotations at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia and Indianapolis Eye Care Center. She was a member of
Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and was the recipient of the SunSoft Award for Achievement in Contact Lenses. Dr. Moles was co-author of a research paper titled "Corneal Molding Recovery
After Contact Lens Wear" and she gave a presentation on this topic at the American Academy of Optometry meeting in 1992. Dr. Moles is board certified in treatment of eye disease and she has
completed post-graduate courses in retina, cornea, glaucoma, and laser vision correction. She is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Michelle Millard Dr. Michelle Millard is from Michigan City, Indiana. She earned her B.S. degree from Purdue
University in Lafayette in the field of medical technology and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 1997. She joined Gailmard Eye & Laser Center after
graduation. Dr. Millard is a registered medical technologist and she is a board certified optometrist, licensed to diagnose and treat diseases of the eye. She completed an externship in
primary care optometry and ocular disease at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital. While in optometry school, she was a member of the Tomb and Key Honor Society and Beta Sigma Kappa
Honor Society. Dr. Millard has completed numerous continuing medical education courses, including courses in Laser Vision Correction. She has served as a clinical research investigator for
several contact lens and solution manufacturers seeking FDA approval of new lens materials and designs. Dr. Millard is a member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Sam Lemon Dr. Lemon is a native of Michigan City, Indiana. He attended the University of South Dakota on a
football scholarship, and received his Bachelor of Science degree there in 1995. He also received a B.S. degree, as well as his O.D. degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1999.
Dr. Lemon completed clinical externships at Little Rock Air Force Base, Little Rock, Arkansas and at the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine at the University of Chicago. As a student, he
was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Section and Sports Vision Section. Dr. Lemon is board certified in the treatment and
management of ocular disease and has completed additional coursework in LASIK. He has participated in contact lens clinical research studies for the FDA. He is a member of the
Northwest Indiana Optometric Society, the Indiana Optometric Association and the AOA.
